Important Tournament Notes

The tournament committee welcomes all of our members, new and returning, to another year of golf at your club, Ould Newbury.

SPECIAL NOTE: Beginning this season, the committee will be monitoring the pace of play very closely. Penalty strokes will be assessed for slow play. Guidelines for pace of play will be available in the Pro Shop on the morning of the tournament. It is the intention of the committee to make tournament play more enjoyable. Shorter tournament rounds will benefit all participants and members in general.

On tournament days, all players are encouraged to arrive at the club 20 minutes prior to tee time. Tardiness will not be tolerated. Should a player be late for tee off time, penalty strokes will be assessed.

Tournament Start Times: Based on tournament participation and the pro’s recommendation, tee times could be as early as 6:30 am.

Senior Tees: Senior tees (green tees) are available on the course. In order to use these tees, you must be 65 years of age or older, and your age plus your handicap must equal 80 or higher. These tees will not be used for tournament play.

Tournament Schedule: The tournament schedule is subject to change. Notices will be posted on the bulletin board three weeks prior to the upcoming event, on Saturday by noon time. The one exception is the sign up for the Labor Day 4-ball, which will be posted on July 23rd.

Labor Day 4-Ball: This year, the Labor Day 4-ball will be signup only. (No qualifying round.) The first 32 teams are in; all subsequent entries will be alternates. A $25.00 deposit for each team member will be required at the time of signup. Seeding will be done by the committee and Pro.

Member/Guest Tournaments: players who do not have a valid handicap will play in the Callaway division.

Handicaps: The handicap committee has decided to post and count the Thursday night nine hole combined scores towards member handicaps and all Ould Newbury Golf Club events. Participants in the men’s and women’s President Cup must post a minimum of ten rounds at ONGC by July 25th.

CLUB CHAMPONSHIP: Any member holding a USGA card at Ould Newbury, regardless of membership status is eligible to participate in the Club Championship. This includes all flights. The Senior Club Championship will be held on June 4th and 5th. Qualifying for all flights in the Club Championship will be held on July 9th. The defending champ and low 15 qualifiers will begin match play on July 10th. Semi-final and final rounds will take place on the 16th and 17th. (If for any reason, there is no defending champion, the low 16 will qualify.)
